What is the Gospel?

The gospel begins with Jesus Christ. Jesus was more than just an ordinary man. In His ministry on earth, He showed Himself to be someone special by the works that He did, and by the things that He spoke.

The Works of Jesus as the Expression of God’s Love

Jesus’ works included raising the dead, healing every sort of illness or debility among men simply by saying “Be healed,” feeding five thousand people with seven loaves of bread and a few fish, walking across a large sea as if it were dry land, making the blind see and the deaf hear with His words, completely healing people of mental illness, and raising from the dead Himself after He died on the cross.

The Life Changing Power of Jesus’ Words

His words are uniquely powerful on earth. No one has spoken like Jesus Christ spoke. Among the things He said, are:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. (John 5:19-21)

And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. (John 17:11-21)

The Benefits of Being Saved

So, seeing that Jesus Christ is obviously a very special person, taking Him at His word that He is the Son of God is quite simple. And, taking the step to receive Him as your Lord has the special benefit of your becoming a child of God, and being able to speak with God and be led by Him in your life.

God is love, so having Him in your corner is life-changing. He is also omnipotent, so nothing can stop Him from taking care of your every need, and following His lead results in a life of overcoming in the struggles of living. Not only this, but as we follow Jesus Christ in serving God, we are made purer in the process, making us able to have a tremendously deep love for all people through the things that we go through on this earth.

How to Receive Jesus Christ and Become a Christian

Salvation comes through believing in Jesus and confessing Him as the Son of God.

You can be saved by praying this prayer or praying similarly in your own words: “God, I believe that Jesus Christ is your only begotten Son. I believe that He died and rose again, defeating death for all time. I want to live for you and Jesus as a Christian. Please guide me, Lord, and help me to follow your lead. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Essential Steps Once You’re Saved

Now, if you have accepted Christ, taking steps to get a Bible and reading it on a daily basis, and praying to God are essential for the Christian walk. So is being baptized by a brother in the Lord, signifying the end of your old life as you’re “buried” under the water, and rising out of the water born again into a new life, led by the living God.

You can also call on Jesus’ name, saying “Jesus!” in your heart, any time that you are in any danger, spiritual or physical, and Jesus will deliver you. (Joel 2:32)

God Will Lead You to the Answers You’re in Need of

There’s a lot more to the Christian walk than I can outline here, so getting a good Bible is really essential to learn everything you’ll come to know as a Christian. The Authorized King James Bible is the most accurate translation in English, so I recommend getting one.

Finally, if you have any questions about the faith, reaching out to trustworthy brethren can help. You can email me with questions, and I’ll do my best to help. Otherwise, a prayer to God to guide you to a godly leader or brother or sister in the faith who can help you will make it happen. God always answers our needs when we reach out to Him.

Did You Accept Christ? I’d Like to Know!

I hope that you’ve come to accept Jesus as your Savior. If so, let me know! Leave a comment or send an email my way. God bless you in your walk with Jesus, and I pray that your every need is answered on a daily basis and your walk will grow in strength. Amen.
