Apostate or Reprobate? An Open Letter to Reprobate Christians

Do you feel that you are an apostate Christian? Did you once deny Christ, or do you feel like you’ve lost the Holy Spirit? Do you feel like you have no hope or chance of redemption? I felt the same way, for eight years of my life. But, I ultimately reached out to God, and he saved and redeemed me. I felt the Spirit return to me. This could be possible for you, too.

Being reprobate is one thing; apostasy is something else. Hebrews 6:4-8 shows the difference between the two:

Hebrews 6:4-84 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. 7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: 8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.”

In verse 6, the Greek word for “fall away” is Parapito, meaning to be apostate, without possibility of renewal in the faith. In verse 8, the word for “rejected” is Adokimos, meaning to be reprobate – the verse states that the reprobate are “near unto cursing”, not irreversibly cursed.

If you feel that you’ve fallen from God’s grace, you may only be reprobate. The reprobate can still be saved. If you are only reprobate and you turn to God, believe that he can save you, and reach out to him in earnest prayer, you can become a Spirit-indwelt Christian once again.

I serve God with great vigor today. I am so thankful for God saving me from being reprobate. I recognize that God is love, and that he is worthy of being followed. There is no person more wonderful than God. Today, I know him. I exhort you again, reach out to God for salvation – he can still save you. God be with you in this.

Closing Prayer

I pray for this open letter to spread to every person that can be helped by it, and that every reprobate Christian that reads it returns to God. I pray for great zealousness for God for all that are redeemed. God’s will be done. Amen.
